Anders now weighs 3 lbs 7 oz. He is now being fed through a tube in his nose, which is an improvement even though that sounds weird. He is still at 2 liters of O2 and his oxygen level is in the mid 20%s.
We had a young nurse today and almost her first question was whether we wanted to hold Anders. Anna held him, which went well for about 40 minutes until he started desaturating. It seems that he has less in reserve than earlier in the week now that he is being pushed harder. The nurse said that he gets overstimulated outside his isolette and forgets to breath regularly. Anders is now up to feedings of 30 mils every three hours.
We celebrated Anna's birthday at some of our favorite old spots in the city. Tomorrow, we will go back to the state fair. Saturday, we will celebrate Anna's birthday with her immediate family. Saturday, I'm going to the Luther-St. Olaf football game in Northfield with my old friend Chris Wenthold, a pretty good Luther football player in his day (I think he owns some school receiving records? Brad would know...).
We are bumping along in good spirits. I noticed today the leaves starting to turn. We have been here a long time. I haven't spent the majority of any month in Athens since May. I have spent 17 days in Athens since June 3, most of that time was the week and a half between Louisville and D.C. I imagine that after the state fair ends and everyone is back in school, this whole accidental tourist gig will get sweaty. Thank good for the cooling breezes of fall...
