I'm saying you ARE stuck in Wichita.

From "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles:"
Steve Martin: "Are you saying we might be stuck in Wichita."
John Candy: "I'm saying you ARE stuck in Wichita."
I thought last Wednesday was rock bottom. The new rock bottom was tonight.
We thought Anders was doing well at the 3 pm feeding. He took 30 mils at noon and 27 mils at three pm when he was essentially asleep. He even took 40 mils earlier today.
Then the nurse practicioner told us that she did not like Anders' new plan. She said he needs to be on oxygen and that he is not doing as well as before. This was news to us. We felt like he was doing well.
The worst thing is that they have changed his plan about 17 times in the last week. Every day we arrive and the nurse practicioner has a new plan for him. We need to talk to a real doctor. Allegedly, we will receive a call from the neonatalogist tomorrow morning.
Fairview needs a PLAN for Anders, not to jerk us around each and every day.
The nurse practicioner added insult to injury by talking about how her husband, a PhD in military history, could not find an academic job after finishing. I realize the job market is challenging. I don't need the constant reminders.
To say that I am surly, despairing, depressed, fill in the awful adjective would be right on.
So, I stopped at Backwoods Liquor in Elk River and I am back on the Grain Belt.
Anna is doing surprisingly good at this point. She's a real brick. Of course, she hasn't been living with in laws for 12 weeks. That's not a shot at in laws, it's just hard.
We are now talking about what it might take to get Anders transferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. He needs a pulminologist. Tonight's NNP said that 27 weekers might need 44 weeks to develop and that she wants him to go home on oxygen. We are quite interested in going home now. We are already driving 106 miles per day rather than 150 miles to Columbus. She wants to keep him on the oxygen until he takes his full feeding. At which point, we would take it of and put it on when he eats. It would be a slow ween.
I can't stand how this plan keeps changing all the time. It's like this company is being run by American Car Company executives. No one has the same interpretation or plan about the same events.
I am at the end of my rope. We can't stay here much longer. If we go past 40 weeks, then I think we will try to get back to Ohio.
There is no King in Israel, no consensus. The medical team is not controlling factors like low flow vs. regular flow nipples. We need to get out of here.
Perhaps things will be better tomorrow, particularly if Iowa beats Wisconsin.
