Well, we think New Kathleen and Dr. Speech were incorrect in their speech language pathology consultation. Anders needs a high flow nipple not a low flow nipple for feeding. They have changed nipples and feeding strategies so many times in the past week and a half that I cannot properly summarize all that has been done. The nurse practicioner has changed the orders so Anders will have a high flow nipple only and he will be allowed to take as much food as he can in 15 minutes rather than limiting him to 30 mils in 15 minutes (not that he was taking that amount anyway). Dr. Speech won't know about this new development until she returns from her 5 day weekend on Tuesday. Anders did well immediately after the switch taking 26, 25, and 24 mils at his 12, 3, and 6 pm feedings. He has given us false hope before, but Anna and I really think he's turning a corner this time. We have experienced enough wheel spinnage to not get too excited, but we are hopeful.
Anders remains just south of 7 lbs, which is probably for the better. He was starting to look like Elvis Presley in the '70s. He is less bloated now, retaining less water. Anders remains on lasix. He was very animated today so I went crazy with the camera. I will try to be judicious about which pictures I post, but there might be more than a few. Enjoy.
