A Policy of One

Anders now weighs 7lbs 1oz. He gained over 4oz since yesterday! He has now more than tripled his weight since he was born. They are giving him lasix again just to be sure that nothing is up. He sounds good, no signs that he is retaining water. Chances are, it's just a growth spurt.
Anders was surly like November today. He did not enjoy his bath. He was HUNGRY before the six o'clock feeding. His feeding was a bit late and he was not happy.
The new feeding plan is to have him meet his feeding goal for three consecutive feedings and then move up five mils. For example, he met the 15 mil rate for three times today, then at 6 pm he went up to 20 mils. Chances are, he will again not meet his 20 mil rate overnight, but they will not penalize him by dropping him to 15 mils.
Anders is not the only surly one. I have been fingered as a person of interest by the nurses station. Apparently, the hospital started a new policy that only applies to me. Everyone (I) has to get a visitor sticker and sign in when they (I) come and go. Anna came and left with me and was never asked to sign in or out. Three nurses just kept their eyes trained on me. By the time we left this evening, there wasn't even a pen with which to sign out! I had to scrounge for a pencil to use. I guess 6'4'' 230 with a tattered leather coat makes one a person of interest at the special care nursery.
I have a feeling this situation is going to be even more surly as November approaches.
