Anders Turns Over
We went for a walk this afternoon. Anders wore his bear suit. It's still way too big for him, except in his arms. His arms are close to fitting in the suit.
Anders is also eating very well today. He took his full feeding three times in a row, then almost a full feeding the next two. Anna is feeding him now. Today we stopped writing down his feedings. Playing against type, Anna prevailed upon me to stop worrying and let Anders eat what he will eat and not worry so much. I am going to have a tough time letting the recording go.
Anders had a really great day. He even met our neighbor who introduces herself to us each time we meet. We have lived here for nearly four years. Every time she sees us, she asks us if we just moved into the neighborhood, which she did again today. Without asking about the sex, she started using the "she" pronoun for Anders. That was a first.

Anders and Eating
Feeding Anders is akin to attempting to keep on your lap a semi-mobile cat with all of his claws and a stubborn disposition.
Once you stop trying to feed him, he mellows out, smiles and carries on normally. Everything else is fine. He likes to take his first pull out of the bottle. He will take 100 mils pretty consistently. Things deteriorate pretty quickly after that first pull. The sound of obstinate crying is maddening. One funny thing that has come out of this is that Anders likes to grab his burp towel and stuff it in his mouth to prevent further feedings. Today I pulled it out, like I do everyday, but today Anders did something different than all other times. He immediately grabbed the discarded towel and stuffed it back in his mouth.
He's cute enough to be a baby model and now he eats like a model. Well, one more battle--I mean bottle--tonight, then bedtime.
We need Anders' fellow Fairview Riverside baby and Leo--MN Steve--to get here and explain to Anders the joys of food.

14lbs 15oz
We took Anders to the doctor today because his eating has been down in the last week from the mid to high 800 mils down to the mid 700 mils. The doctor check for an ear infection or a cold, but she found nothing wrong. Everything checked out okay. It is too early for him to be teething. I guess he's just asserting himself.
He is still gaining weight. He remains in at the same spot in the middle of the curve. His weight gain should be leveling off around this point, which it is. He is not teething yet, nor is he ready to teeth.
We had a nice visit with Auntie Mandy this past weekend. Unfortunately for her, Anders picked last week to develop a discerning eye for his parents vs. "Not His Parents." It took Anders two days, but he finally allowed Mandy to hold him without a fight. Another developmental milestone is that Anders now enjoys tummy time and is very good at it. Anders has also become a lot better at turning to the right.
Even though nothing is wrong, I really hope he starts eating more again soon.

14lbs. 12oz.
Anders had more immunizations yesterday. He took the first one well, but lost it on the second one. I continue to marvel at how many shots he has had and how well he continues to take them. He has three more shots later this month, but only one shot next month and then that's it for a while.
I took Anders to Walmart and the computer repair place on campus yesterday. Anders looked at Walmart as though it was an amusement park. Anders was spotted by a little kid for the first time at Walmart. A little girl said, "Look Mom, there's a baby!" Anders paid no attention from his perch in the cart. He just kept looking up to the ceiling.
We've had a low to moderate amount of snow, which means Anna had a 2hr. late start Monday, no school today, a 2 hr. delay already in place for tomorrow with the likelihood of another cancellation tomorrow as the melting snow and rain refreezes.
Anders started sticking his tongue out at us a lot yesterday. He is really asserting his personality. His immunizations today have left him in a foul mood.

Anders goes to Kroger
I took Anders on what my friend Brad would call a "Jon Peterson Death March," which was not a march at all for him in his stroller. He barely stirred at all and slept from the time we reached the bike path. He was so still that I checked to make sure he was still breathing as we walked past the emergency room.
Anders also said "okay" today. I asked him something like "how are you doing buddy?" Oh (sort pause) kay.
Anna thinks Anders' poop has a stronger smell than before. I haven't notice that, but it is more shapely than before. Regardless, he likes to put his hands behind his head, proud of his production.
Anna woke me up today by lowering Anders to my head in bed, at which point Anders promptly took a swing at my head. This move fits his profile since he sleeps with one hand on my throat. He never sleeps with a hand on Anna's throat. The oedipal stuff starts early.

Anders Works Out
The other thing he needs to do more is bring his hands together in the middle of his body and even put them in his mouth. Anders missed out on the third trimester when he would have been in, well, the fetal position with his hands together in his midsection.
Since we returned this evening, Anna has been putting Anders through his paces. She was forcing him to turn exclusively to the right until I looked at the directions for the exercises, which said he only needs to do four sets of right face turns per day. Anna appears to be winning the battle of the wills so far with Anders. I'm usually less successful in my battle of the wills against Anders. It's more of a marathon on the day shift.
Oh, Anders now weighs 14lbs 1oz. He is up 9oz in a week. His head is up toward the 95th percentile, his weight is above the 50th percentile, his length is 24.25 inches--putting him between the 75th and 50th percentile. His head size is up a bit, but his length is down a bit. Length, however, is the most unreliable measurement. Our doctor said that until Anders is upright we cannot truly tell his height.
It was a good appointment. Anders performed admirably. He goes to the doctor in Athens again a week from tomorrow.
We had a nice visit with Uncle Josh. Anders had fun sitting in his lap, looking him in the eye, and babbling to him. It was pretty funny to see Anders randomly look over at Josh and start staring at him.
