Anders Works Out

Anders has trouble turning to the right, a trait he obviously inherited from his mother. He currently has only 95% movement to the right. The physical therapist gave him a series of exercises to do to give him full turning motion to the right. I have no doubt Anders will get to 100%. Previously, he slightly weak neck muscles, so we started a strict regimen of tummy time to strengthen his neck. His neck and upper back muscles were one of the strongest parts of his evaluation today.
The other thing he needs to do more is bring his hands together in the middle of his body and even put them in his mouth. Anders missed out on the third trimester when he would have been in, well, the fetal position with his hands together in his midsection.
Since we returned this evening, Anna has been putting Anders through his paces. She was forcing him to turn exclusively to the right until I looked at the directions for the exercises, which said he only needs to do four sets of right face turns per day. Anna appears to be winning the battle of the wills so far with Anders. I'm usually less successful in my battle of the wills against Anders. It's more of a marathon on the day shift.
Oh, Anders now weighs 14lbs 1oz. He is up 9oz in a week. His head is up toward the 95th percentile, his weight is above the 50th percentile, his length is 24.25 inches--putting him between the 75th and 50th percentile. His head size is up a bit, but his length is down a bit. Length, however, is the most unreliable measurement. Our doctor said that until Anders is upright we cannot truly tell his height.
It was a good appointment. Anders performed admirably. He goes to the doctor in Athens again a week from tomorrow.
We had a nice visit with Uncle Josh. Anders had fun sitting in his lap, looking him in the eye, and babbling to him. It was pretty funny to see Anders randomly look over at Josh and start staring at him.
